CSI Latina Financial Receives OPIC Award
May 20, 2015ST. LOUIS (May 20, 2015) – CSI Leasing, Inc. is pleased to announce that its wholly-owned subsidiary, CSI Latina Financial, Inc., has received an Impact Award from The Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC). The award recognizes exceptional achievement in international private sector development and was presented May 19 at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce with many dignitaries present, including U.S. National Security Advisor Susan Rice.
OPIC recognized seven of its business alliances that exemplify the breadth of geography, size, sector and positive development impact that can result from OPIC finance and insurance support. CSI Latina received the American Small Business Award. Based in Miami, CSI Latina provides crucial growth and support to small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in developing Latin American countries. Empowered by multiple OPIC loans, CSI Latina offers leases on items ranging from machinery to communications technology to furniture. This vital support allows growing SMEs and enterprises to overcome budget constraints and achieve greater financial flexibility.
Carlos Milian, executive vice president for CSI Latina, accepted the award on behalf of CSI. “I am humbled to be able to accept this award from OPIC,” said Milian during his acceptance speech. “OPIC not only helped us expand our financing needs when we initiated our business in Latin America, it helped us navigate through the global financial crisis, where the lending market dried up almost overnight. OPIC was there for us then and remains here today to help us with our current financing needs. This is why we have such a strong relationship with OPIC and attribute much of our success to them.”
OPIC is a U.S. Government development finance institution. It mobilizes private capital to help address critical development challenges and in doing so, advances U.S. foreign policy and national security priorities. Because OPIC works with the U.S. private sector, it helps U.S. businesses gain footholds in emerging markets, catalyzing revenues, jobs and growth opportunities both at home and abroad. OPIC achieves its mission by providing investors with financing, political risk insurance, and support for private equity investment funds, when funding cannot be obtained elsewhere. Established as an agency of the U.S. Government in 1971, OPIC operates on a self-sustaining basis at no net cost to American taxpayers.
